I confess: I AM NOT HANDY.
Nope, just not one of my skills. I'm creative, even crafty, but handy I am not.
My handyman husband was out of town this weekend so I thought I'd take it upon my impatient self to hang the curtains in the guestroom. Let's just say it didn't go so well. You know those plastic thingys you put in the wall before the screw... ya, forgot those.
DIY window coverings: FAIL.

Don't worry the husband comes home today... and I like to think I have other great qualities.
: ) Christine
shhhhhhhh all my readers think I know what I'm doing ;)
ReplyDeleteso been there bella!
You do have other great qualities! You're a pro blogger and a pro decorator!
ReplyDeleteso funny! it just takes practice and a husband that is never around. that way you have no choice but to be handy!
ReplyDeletedon't fret - that's what guys are for! plus it makes them feel needed and manly! better to be really good at a few things than crappy at everything :)
ReplyDeletei am the handyman in this family (well, actually, my dad is...he has super handyman skills and I have wannabee skills)...
ReplyDeletethe curtains are pretty! :)
So sad. I am the same way, so I totally appreciate this.
ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad- my DIY upholstery was a total failure- sometimes such things work out and sometimes they don't:)
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so with you. I'm no good and that kind of stuff but I also think I don't push myself because I'm more than happy to let my husband handle that dept.
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny!! I love DIY-ing, I learned everything I know from family who always lend a helping hand or a level!
ReplyDeleteI am not super handy either...but I just keep trying. Even though a fail A LOT. And occasionally, something comes out ok. And I feel so proud of myself! Haha!
ReplyDeleteAm so with you - not handy either. The boyfriend does all mine ;-) xx
ReplyDeleteI feel ya girl, my husband is a life saver! Can't wait to see then hung!
ReplyDeleteLuvs!
This so makes me laugh. I'm right there with you. I have to leave projects for the professionals. I admire all of the talented bloggers that can do it themselves though.
ReplyDeleteso hilarious! it's nothing a little super glue can't fix :)
ReplyDeletei'm pretty sure this might be the story of my life -- i leave it all to hubs!
ReplyDeletetoo funny! good for you for even trying - i usually don't even get that far... i would wait for my husband or dad!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate! Hanging drapes is not easy! I always have to enlist help and I don't like to wait for help to arrive. I've seriously considered hiring a handyman for little projects around the house.
ReplyDeleteI'm not allowed to hang stuff like that anymore either! I tried hanging shelves, and my guy wouldn't let it go that they were SLIGHTLY tilted... I did just hang a picture all by myself, and it actually looks centered! You'd think being a house designer that I'd be handier around the house, but nope! Tell me what you want though, and I can draw you a picture! Haha
ReplyDeleteI totally hear you. I love being creative, but I usually end up breaking something if I try to be handy.
ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh! Thank goodness for husbands, mine does all my "hard-work":)
ReplyDeletethis made me laugh~i am so with you girl! i am not handy at all--and my hubs really isn't either--whats a girl to do?
ReplyDeletehahah...i'm the same way...creative for sure...handy not so much. I got a hubby who tries...but thankfully, I have a handy man on speed dial if need be!
ReplyDeleteyou didn't fail...it's just a two-man job!!! if there were two of you, you'd been in business!
ReplyDeletehaha awww well at least you tried! I am not so crafty at times either... that's why hubby ends up doing most of the work! Your Christmas tree looks Amazing by the way!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha you are so cute! And so very much like me. I too cannot stand for the like of me, waiting to do a task around the house. And sometimes you really do need someone handy-er to help ya out :) Way to go hubby! xo
ReplyDeleteHe he-i'm not the best at hanging curtains either(especially since measurement and a straight line are involved:-)). XX
ReplyDeleteDrywall plugs- but even then they don't always work. I have a patch job in my bathroom when the towel bar fell off. I tried to hang it up again and ended up making a mess! Now I have patched it and am waiting for the hubby to hang it up, hmmmm...its been 3 weeks! So I can TOTALLY relate:)
ReplyDeleteI'm not handy at all either! I'm going to rely on Matthew for all that stuff too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone, I'm glad I'm not the only one! And thanks for the votes of confidence too... though I'll probably try and be patient next time.
ReplyDeleteoh lawwwwd! Let me tell you...the fun part is picking them out. The rest is for the husbands hahaha This is what would happen to me too!
ReplyDeleteSO funny, Christine!! I love this. Although I would say I was handy, other's would beg to differ. I'm like you and can't wait for help to arrive sometimes, so I will do it by myself--although that normally takes longer because we have to redo it (: Oops! Practice makes perfect, right?!
