Keepin' it Real: The "Lived in" Nursery

This is Alice's nursery before she was born:
NurseryFinal05

And here's how it looks these days:
NurseryAMess

Please tell me how a baby who just learned to even hold a toy can make such a mess... oh wait, I guess that's all my doing then, hey? Cleaning house vs squishing cheeks? The house never stood a chance ;)

Just keepin' it real....

  1. She's too cute! And I like your lived-in nursery. Rooms are for living in, not just for show. :)

  2. oh she is a doll! No wonder the house doesn't stand a chance : ) I totally laughed out loud at the second picture because I am so in the same boat with you. My littlest one's room needs some major attention but so many other things call my name, mostly the sweet cheeks on my two sweet boys : ) they receive hundreds of kisses daily. I think the room can wait a bit longer : ) By the way, her nursery is absolutely beautiful!

  3. I think my favourite thing about your little girl's lovely space is the pops of yellow. I especially like this hue paired up with the grey and black tones.

p.s. I like that "our" Anthro scarf made it into the shot.

    1. Haha! Yes that is "our" scarf! Somehow my scarves always end up all over the house.

  7. This looks EXACTLY like both our nurseries. I have two laundry baskets going in Tag's room as we speak. One full of dirty clothes and one full of clean. I just rotate the clothes on my children in between.

  10. I have a house, hub, 3 kids, a puppy and I run two businesses from the house. Um...yeah. My house has that au natural, lived-in vibe going on, too.

I've heard that style is making a come back. ;)

Alice is very worth a messy room. She's a doll!!!

  12. Bahahaha...love this post Christine! It's such a relief to know that I'm not the only one who's life is a little more chaotic than I let on my blog. Thanks for the refreshing dose of the real life! xo

  15. Haha! OMG! I lough so hard that i almost woke up the baby! Yeah, me entire house looks like this. Tough, kitchen is pretty clean only because Gord really likes cleaning it every night. My dining room table is covered with baby stuff I can't even see the surface.

  16. Ha! Yeah, it definitely looks "lived in". But it still looks functional. Those piles of clothes looks so neatly folded and easy to get to, right?

    1. Yes, at least those are folded. I was organizing her "too small" clothes to put away in storage.

  17. I absolutely LOVED this post. However, looks like Alice and I have something in common......our rooms featuring the zero floor space look. It's so chic ;)

I adore this room, mess and all.

  18. I can so relate, we are on number two and half the time i have stacks of clean laundry all over the place. Question, Is that yellow bag your diaper? If so where did you get it, I LOVE <3 it. I have been eyeing another yellow diaper bag, but its always out of stock. Thanks!

    1. Hi Ivette, The yellow bag isn't actually a diaper bag, just a really big purse that I use as a diaper bag occasionally. It's from Nine West, but I got it quite a few years ago. I hope you can find something similar!

  25. Hi,
I actually purchased the same fabric for our curtains. What paint and paint color did you use? I am in the process of picking a color and yours looks perfect. Thanks!

    1. Glad you found it (Sarah Richardson's Escaprment). It's a greenish grey so not an exact match to the curtain grey but compliments it really well. Happy painting, Tatiana!
