Reading Nook & A Few Faves

This is Alice's new favourite place to play. It makes me so happy to see her using this little reading nook in her nursery and that she is finally enjoying books for something other than a chew toy :)

Reading nook - 2

Here are a few books we are currently loving:

FavKidsBooks01
1) Mortimer 2) Dwell Studio Touch and Feel Farm (or any touch and feel book really) 3) Grumpy Bird 4) The Game of Finger Worms 5) The Gruffalo 6) Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? **

I also have this, this and this one on order for Christmas. Yep, I've officially started my shopping, I have some lofty goals to get it done before December this year, though I say that every year and it never happens ;)

We're always looking for new books, any good ones to share?

Happy Friday!
Christine

  1. We just picked up Alligator Pie by Dennis Lee – a Canadian classic that has apparently been hard to come by in recent years. Our little guy is barely 4 months old, but seems to love the rhyming rhythm. :)

  2. So sweet. What a cute little reading nook! She's so darling. My favorite book was some zoo keeper book and the caterpillar one!

  3. Grumpy Bird and Boo Hoo Bird were part of Saige's bedtime routine for far too long - like we have special voices for each animal (ie. the beaver has a country twang and fox is a Southern belle.) Guffalo is Trev's favourite - I can hear him some nights begging for it to be Saige's pick. Gabe has recently taken a liking to Little Blue Truck... I'm going to have to look into a couple of Alice's faves although we're doing little gift buying this year.

  4. Love the nook. We have a low bookshelf in the playroom and the girls love to pull books off of it and flip through. Counting Birds by Jing Jing Tsong is great - the girls love it.

  6. Love how she uses the pillow to get a better reach... Laura Numeroff is a good author- her books include If You Give A Moose A Muffin, If You Give a Cat A Cupcake, If You Take A Mouse To the Movies... Dorren Cronin is also good- Click Clack ABC, Dooby Dooby Moo, etc.Though Eric Carle is still a fav of mine. PS. I have TONS (literally boxes full of them) of books you can borrow here that are just sitting in bins.
