So, in an attempt to simplify gift giving I'm implementing the 'four gift rule' - something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read. I wish I could give credit to this genius idea, it's been floating all over pinterest and I can't really pin down an original source. I'll just thank the internet for the great idea - thanks, internet.
And if you're anything like me and just looked at the calendar wondering where on earth November went (so much for getting all my shopping done) here is some simplified gift giving inspiration to help you out. First up, the little girls...

Love this idea - makes it a bit easier for shopping... We didn't get Leo anything his first year either (he was about a month old as well). He got so much for his birthday we were thinking of just doing a couple things and this is a great idea - thanks!
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not the only parent who didn't shop for a newborn!
Deletegreat idea! love the tea set and the glitter shoes. our girls each have a pair of glitter shoes and they grab them all the time for us to put on. We were actually thinking of getting them a couple things + gymnastics lessons. They are still too young to feel tricked out of a gift and lessons x 2 are expensive.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an awesome idea, do you think they're old enough to get "the gift that keeps on giving" ;) I bet everything x2 can get expensive!
DeleteWhat a wonderful idea. The perfect way to keep things from snowballing into a massive shopping spree...and an easy way to zero in on what you really want / need to purchase. Love it and love your picks!
ReplyDeleteYou know me, I'm all about lists and organization (and keeping my shopping under wraps doesn't hurt either). haha.
DeleteI LOVE this! thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to go over my list now to see if I have those things.
:)
It made things so much easier for me, hope it helps!
DeleteAwww! What a cute roundup! Dying over those little shoes!
ReplyDeletethis year we're hand making all our presents. our daughter is 20 months old and she'll be getting gifts from her grandparents, so nothing from us. and the gifts are things she needs and one want. easy peasy :)
ReplyDeleteloving the gifts you have featured! the sleep sack sadly didn't work for our little one but I know lots of babies who love it.
Aw, handmade gifts are always special, love that.
DeleteI'm so happy she still rocks the sleep sack, the girl moves around so much she'd never keep a blanket on her!
I am totally doing this with Avery this year too. Heard about it last year and thought it was a great idea. I am doing all my shopping once I get out there if you wanna join me one day :)
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm always up for shopping, Marie!!
DeleteI love this idea and I'm trying to reign myself in this year and work with this rule. Love what you have picked for A - that book is so sweet, but so sad....I almost burst into tears when we read it!

ReplyDeleteGotta love Pinterest! I am doing this in my house too. I had my littles do the book exchange for each other. It was so fun taking them out to buy books. Ok those shoes are darling and who doesn't love a sale ;)
ReplyDeleteWe are attempting this 4 gift rule but so far its not working out!
ReplyDeleteFor something to wear: 4 pieces of clothing, plus a pair of pj's...but they were all on sale (extremely cheap!) so maybe that can excuse us :P.
Something to read: we got her 2 books
Something they want: building blocks.
Don't have something she needs yet...but maybe I will sew some of her blankets to make a sleep sack (mine's a mover too)
I'm horrible at knowing when to stop!
I'm finding it hard to stop buying stuff for her...
