Just a Bowl (or two) of Cereal

Sure did miss this little face while I was away...

Snack TimeSnack Time

This little girl's love of food does not fall very far from the tree. Just a quick snap of everyday life around here, I'm doing my best to stay on track with my goal to take more photos.

Happy Friday!

Scenes from Mexico

As predicted, I took a little vacation from my vacation. Am I the only one who needs to ease back into reality after a week away?? Not that I'm complaining, it was an awesome week. Sun, sand and sleep do wonders for the soul, don't they? Ridiculous amounts of guacamole and fancy pineapple drinks can't hurt either ;)

I made the executive relaxation decision to leave my camera at home so here is the beautiful Cabo San Lucas from my iPhone.

Thank you so much to my pal, Janine for including me in your beautiful wedding and to my bestie, Taryn for a fun mom's week away.

Cabo San Lucas

I missed Alice like crazy but am so thankful for technology and our daily facetime dates, she gives really great phone kisses. As much as I love getting away there is nothing better than coming home. I'll file these photos away for when I need a dose of relaxation, feel free to do the same :)

Back to reality...

Hello Sunshine

Things will be a bit quiet on the blog over the next week, I will be sipping margaritas, reading books, and sleeping in! I'm off to Mexico for a wedding and a week of girl time with my bestie. Yep, just me and my pal. I'm going to miss little Alice like crazy (and Mike too) but am looking forward to the break... and the sunshine. Spring hasn't exactly made it's appearance over here yet.

I promise to have a drink or two for you!

Naan Pizza

I've been really into pizza lately, naan pizza to be exact. Many people tell me that it's super easy to make your own pizza crust, but you just can't beat fast and easy for a quick weeknight meal. Really, you can just throw anything on some naan bread, throw it in the oven and you've got yourself a pizza. Done and done.

Here are a few recipe keepers I've come across lately...

1) caramelized onion, gorgonzola, pear pizza - I added some prosciutto crisps for bonus flavour. The recipe calls for homemade crust, I adapted and threw it on some naan - voila naan pizza!

2) sausage and grape pizza - I had been meaning to try this recipe since Andrea posted a while ago. I wish I would have done it sooner, it was amazing. Grapes on pizza, who knew!? BIG thank you for recommending this one, Andrea!! Again, if you want quick and easy, adapt and throw it on naan!

3) shrimp pizza with coconut arugula pesto - I think the name says it all, this one is up next!

Workin' Our Big / Little Style: Neon

I had a few people ask to see some of the big/little style posts live and in person, which to be honest gave me heart palpitations. There's a reason I decided to neatly fold those clothes up on the floor, I'm not super fond of posting my mug all over this blog. But when I realized I was wearing my outfit post, I decided to bite the bullet, dress up Alice and snap a few shots.

Alice seemed to enjoy it, look at that face. Fashion blogger in the making??

And yes, we went out like this :)

Check out the original pop of neon post with sources here.

Happy Friday!

Take More Photos + photography concentrate giveaway

I need to take more photos. "say what!??" said any of you who follow me on instagram or know me in real life. I know, I know. I constantly have my phone out snapping away the every day, but I want to start taking better photos like with a real camera with a lens and everything.

A few months ago I purchased the Extremely Essential Camera Skills tutorial from Photography Concentrate and let me tell you, it is extremely awesome. I actually took photography courses in college (film) so I knew the basics of manual shooting and such but still, I learned SO much from this tutorial.

Rob and Lauren are amazing teachers. Everything is so clear, easy to follow and actually fun to learn. I learned so much about my camera, settings, and photography in general. So, not only do I feel smarter and more confident with my camera, but I also feel inspired. Inspired to take more photos, to put down my phone and get behind a real lens.

That inspiration led to this photo. I decided to attempt a live (self timer) version of my big/little style post. The photo is far from perfect. That's not creative cropping there that's an oops we sat on the wrong step and cut off my head situation. But you know what, I like it. Thanks for motivating me to get out and shoot, Rob and Lauren. I'm going to try and challenge myself to stick with it and post more candid shots every now and then.

And I want to pass that motivation (and information) on to you guys!

Photography Concentrate so kindly offered to giveaway an Extremely Essential Camera Skills tutorial to one of you. So if you've ever wanted to learn more about your camera this is your chance.

Trust me you will love it, go on and enter...

Happy Easter!

FYI, plastic easter eggs make for really great toddler toys. These things have been hours of entertainment since they found their way into our house. Also great for a quick and easy easter tree using washi tape and neon twine from the Home Depot!

Alice was sort of into the hunt, she liked the surprise goldfish in each egg but the novelty kinda wore off fast. Maybe it's because she's so used to toys sprawled all over the main floor the idea was kinda lost, haha ;) It was still fun.

Hope you all had a great easter weekend too!
