Keepin' It Real: Slow Progress Report

I don't know what it is but I've lost steam on my office update. Fancy polka dot walls - check! Gold desk IKEA hack - check! Anything else..... ummm, woops! I seem to have come to a stand still.

Maybe it's the weather that is keeping me away? You know, the constant call to get outside and enjoy the summer while it lasts. Maybe it's the piles of random crap lying everywhere begging to be organized? The art to be framed? Things are definitely coming along sloooowly.

I've got a lot of tedious stuff to do in there, like organize, clean and move out some pretty heavy furniture that I have no idea where I'm going to put it. I'll plan on tackling something in the room after Alice is in bed, but once 7:30 rolls around I am exhausted. I don't know how some people do it.

There's also that "blogger's guilt" for getting you all excited about a project and then nothing. Sorry, guys. Do you ever lose steam on a project? How do you stay focused? Please tell me I'm not the only one? I was so excited about the room, and I still am, I just need to find that motivation to get going again.

Here's a look at what I'm talking about:

office update: slow progress

Just keepin' it real.

And blogging/playing instead of working on that room ;) ha!

  1. Gosh, glad I am not alone. Every room in my house needs a tweak and I have no excuse! But just lack motivation..

  2. I can't tell you how chaotic life feels right now. I have about 6 projects going on in my home that I hoped to finish before baby comes and not one of them is even close to being done. Trying to keep my kids from ripping off each others limbs seems to take the majority of my time as of late. Can't wait for things to slow down :)

    1. Dude! You are pregnant, you have every right to sit on your arse and relax! As relaxing as it can be with two other kiddos. Hoping things settle nicely for you - take care, friend!

  3. Hi Christine! I hear you on low motivation...I just can't get started on things! I'm trying to start following a schedule of tasks and hope that will help to keep me going. PS I really like your polka dot walls!

    1. I'm a huge fan of lists too, Sara. Plus, it feels great to cross things off once you're done!!

  4. Um, yes, yes and oh wait? YES. I have a serious case of the run-out-of-steam syndrome. I've started so many projects...blogged about them promising to be back soon with an update...and then a year slips by and I haven't done a thing. Whoops. You're definitely not along, Christine! ;)

  6. YES!! To all of this. It's such a struggle sometimes, especially with littles running around. We all can't be full time bloggers & churn out space after space. Slow & steady wins the race!

Looking forward to seeing more of this office but I'm willing to wait b/c I know it'll be so worth it. :-)

    1. Thanks for the vote of confidence, FC. Maybe I'd get more done if someone were willing to pay me a full time wage to do it, haha!

  7. if I were to bust out my video camera and take you on a tour of the dump we're living in right now you'd be horrified. at present our kitchen counter is our office so you are like 100 steps ahead of me. I love what you've done so far. xo

    1. At least you have full on renovation mode as your excuse! That space is going to be so awesome once it's done, Sara. It'll be sooo worth it!

  8. No one wants to do anything in the summer! :) I have a pile of stuff to do but I'd rather be on the porch reading...

  11. Loveeee those wall decals, I'm planning on putting them up in our daughter's room. Just a question, do your walls have any texture to them? Our walls have that annoying orange peel finish on them, and I'm worried about the decals sticking correctly.

    1. Hi Helen,

Our walls don't have much texture to them but I think they would stick pretty well, you'd see the texture through them most likely but that's what gives them that great paint type look. Hope that helps!

Definitely get in touch with Danielle at Urban Walls if you want to check for sure! :)
