Scenes from Hawaii

Honestly, I couldn't think of a better day to share photos from our trip to Hawaii last month. We are in a deep freeze over here again so I am taking this opportunity to pretend I am right back in Maui. Want to join me?

We feel so fortunate to have been able to take this trip with Mike's parents. They were so wonderful and Alice had such a great time hanging out with them for two weeks straight. I highly recommend traveling with the grandparents if you are able, we even snuck in a few date nights! Thank you so much for everything, Heather and Len!

As you can tell it was a lot of beaching and playing in the sand, I swear Alice could live in the sand if we let her. It was such a relaxing trip and the perfect getaway with kids (once you get through the flight ;)

Having a kitchen with a toddler was an absolute must, we did manage to eat out a few times with her and on our own. Here are a few standouts:
Lahaina Grill, Lahaina
Ululani's Shave Ice, multiple locations
Leoda's Kitchen & Pie Shop, Lahaina
Mala Ocean Tavern, Lahaina
Hula Grill, Kaanapali

Other highlights:
Old Lahaina Luau, Lahaina
Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tours
All the beaches are beautiful but Baby Beach, Lahaina was the only beach where the water was calm and baby friendly.

*sigh* I can almost feel the sun right now, I hope this helped warm you up a little bit!

Aloha!
Christine

  1. My parents used to own two condos at the Papakea and I recognized that pool instantly. They had one in the K building and one in the D building...looks like you were in the J building :) Such a a great place to stay with kids and a perfect spot on the island. I am so jealous!

  3. You know how you say that Alice is all "get that camera outta my face, mommy"? Well, I'm so glad you don't listen to her b/c you're amazing at documenting this stuff!! What a fabulous trip you all took! I needed this as we're in a deep freeze over here in Colorado. I'm about to dip my feet in a bowl of warm tap water & look at these tropical pics again ;-)

  5. Gorgeous. I would love to take a trip like that one day. Weren't you worried about your camera on the beach with all the sand? I've had a camera get sand in the lens even though I was being careful and would be scared to take my SLR there.

  6. Thanks for this Christine! We leave for Maui on Saturday and have done little to scope out where to eat etc… so these recommendations will come in super handy!

  7. What a cutie Alice is. So great that she got so much time to spend with the grandparents too and you two got to sneak away - the best kind of vacation! I love Hawaii and hope to take my family there some day.

  9. We are heading to Cuba at the End of March with our 19 month old son (will be 22 months then). Any tips for travelling somewhere warm with a toddler? This will be his first plane ride and first trip to anywhere warm and I must say, the thought of packing is daunting! Toys, clothes, essentials, I am getting overwhelmed.
