Big / Little Style: Boy!!

Guys, I am so excited about today's big/little style post! While I love shopping for a little girl, I am always jealous of all the cute boy stuff out there too, I mean little moustaches and suspenders? They kill me. So when my pal, Erinn had the idea to raid her and little Jack's closet for a post I was all in!

After an extensive search through their amazing (and huge) wardrobes, we ended up with this rusty orange/navy combo that is perfect for fall...

Big / Little Style: Boy!!

BIG STYLE:
top: H&M
necklace: jewelmint (similar)
skirt: ruche (similar here and here)
bracelets: stella & dot, harlow banglebardot spiral bangle
nail polish: essie
shoes: aldo

LITTLE STYLE:
plaid top: gap (similar here and here)
sweater: next (sadly old, similar herehere and here)
shorts/suspenders: zara
backpack: jcrew (also available here cheaper)
shoes: target

And of course I had to find a little moustache for the little girls.

To see these big/little outfits in action pop on over to Erinn's blog, Fancy Napkin, and be prepared for uber cuteness (Jack has the best hair). Thanks so much, Erinn for letting us raid your awesome closets and thank you also to Andrea who helped with outfit decisions during our very eventful playdate.

And if you're wondering what accomplishing something like this with a toddler looks like here's a prime example (there is a reason I usually do this during nap time).

BlogPodium 2013

You know what I love best about the internet? It's awesome at bringing amazing, talented, like-minded people together like they've known each other for years. This is what BlogPodium was for me, a weekend spent hanging out with some pretty cool people I felt like I already "knew".

Throw in some amazing speakers, insightful sessions, stylish brands and you've got yourself a pretty awesome day. Jennifer Flores and her team did a spectacular job of organizing this event connecting design and lifestyle bloggers and I am so thankful I could be a part of it.

I learned a ton of practical and inspiring tips but, most importantly, I learned to be confident in my passion, to embrace blogging and to be unapologetically me. Who knows where things will take me but I'm enjoying the journey and I'm excited do my own thing and to see where it will lead next.

Blogging has always been a hobby for me, a creative outlet, a passion. I love doing it and I love connecting with awesome people who "get it". There's nothing like explaining your blog to someone who doesn't read blogs at all... it's awkward and honestly, sometimes I feel self-conscious about it. I am learning to let that go and to focus on what makes me happy. It was awesome to be with my peeps who are in it, live it and love it.

Thank you to all of you that I met (and those that I didn't cause I know you're awesome too) for being so real and down to earth... group hug!! See, these blog conferences just leave you with the warm fuzzies :)

I also have to say a huge thank you to a wonderful group of ladies I met up with on Friday - AndreaSaraJulieAna and Lisa. Thank you for being so lovely, fun and for easing my nerves heading into a whirlwind weekend.

Blogger Meetup

If you're a blogger or have any interest in blogging, I'd highly recommend checking out BlogPodium next year. Heck, even if you're not a blogger everyone was so nice you might as well pop in for the party... you won't regret it.

Tea With Sarah Richardson

To say this past weekend was a whirlwind is a bit of an understatement. I was fortunate enough, no crazy lucky to kick off my BlogPodium weekend (more on that later) with a dream day at Sarah Richardson's office. Yep, I still can't believe it myself, I had tea with Sarah Richardson. I'm still pinching myself.

Sarah was so welcoming and every bit as sweet and genuine as I imagined. I sipped some delicious Pluck Tea and mingled with a pretty awesome group of bloggers who were all equally as giddy as I was to be there! Sarah was sweet, her design team was lovely, and her office was gorgeous. So pretty and serene in signature Sarah style, I could definitely get used to working here everyday...

She chatted about her new show 'Real Potential' and even acknowledged the fact that some of us design fans may not appreciate it being a bit heavier on the real estate side than the design aspects. Personally, I'm a fan of 'house hunters' type shows so it sort of combined the best of both worlds for me. Though I wouldn't say no to more design either.

Sarah also revealed her brand new line of fabrics for Kravet and shared some insights into the design process and how they make it all happen. I loved all the pretty, subdued patterns and how they all coordinate together in classic yet modern way. Seriously, can you believe this is an office??

I'll be honest, I hardly slept the night before, I was so nervous/excited! Everyone I met was seriously so sweet and friendly and it really eased my nerves heading into Saturday's conference. Yep, this was pretty much my dream day and the perfect way to kick off an amazing, inspiring weekend.

Thank you to Jennifer Flores and Deb McCain for organizing the event and to Sarah and her team for opening up their beautiful office to us. And of course, a huge thank you to Sarah for being so real, down-to-earth and a true inspiration.

BlogPodium Ready (sorta)

I'm heading on a little solo adventure this weekend to BlogPodium. I'm so excited to see some awesome people, soak up some knowledge and inspiration, and diagonal sleep in a king size bed. woot, woot!

I dusted off my cards from last year's bloggy adventure to put to use again. They're still good aside from the lack of an instagram url (funny, there is no way I'd skip that nowadays... how quickly technology changes).

I was inspired by (ok, totally copied) DIY queen Cassie and decided to fancy them up for 2013 with a gold leaf pen. Best invention ever, I love the shiny gold edges! They're all set to go in the awesome gift card holder I picked up from the dollar bin at Target. Score.

Also, did I mention I will be meeting Sarah Richardson??! Yes, pinch me. Along with some other lucky bloggers, I'll be touring her office, sipping tea and chatting all about her new show 'Real Potential' (it airs Sept 19 on HGTV Canada). If you're a fan, you know how crazy exciting this is. Yep, it is going to be a good week.

And what was I thinking planning a family photo session and a trip to BlogPodium all in the same week!?? Trust me when I say this is the tidied version of what my bedroom has looked like this last week (or two - sorry Mike!).

Packing Mess

Who else is going to BlogPodium this weekend? And what are you wearing?? haha.

I'm super excited and super nervous, please come say hi if you're there too!

Spreading the Love

Spreading the Love

- love this twinkle, twinkle little star party Kirsten created for her daughter's first birthday. So cute.

- I want to steal Jillian's entire wardrobe, how sassy is this heart shirt/denim/leather leggings combo?

- did you see this awesome DIY art that Jane created? Love it with the gold frame.

- also, Design Sponge featured Edmonton (my city!) in their latest design guide. It is right on the money with a ton of great suggestions in the comments too.

Happy Friday, y'all!

Scenes From The Wedding

So, it turns out I was too busy doing wedding things to actually document the wedding, ha. We had such a great time in Toronto and it was such a beautiful wedding. Alice did great as the flower girl, I don't think she actually realized she had a job to do and was much more interested in playing in the hotel hallway when her turn came to walk down the aisle. Mike ended up carrying her down blissfully unaware. She looked pretty darn cute doing it though and that's what counts, right?

Alice had so much fun and, as you can see from the photo below, was usually less than interested in having her photo taken. Hopefully I can post a few more once they get some professional pics back!

Toronto Wedding

Remember that dress I posted before I left? I didn't even get a good shot of her in that! woops. By that time she was much more interested in dancing to strike a pose for me, but here is the beautiful dress #1. As I mentioned before, this was the dress that the bride wore when she was three years old. Alice rocked it like it was 1989 again ;)

Toronto Wedding

And yes the pretty flowers have been replaced by a starbucks cup... whatever makes you happy, kid. It's water I swear, though those witnessing the energy and dance moves that followed may beg to differ.

Congratulations Laura and Mike, we are so, so happy for you two!
